We are pleased to announce the next Lincoln event which will take place on the Tuesday 28th March at a new venue, the fantastic new Boole Technology centre in Lincoln.
Our keynote speaker will be Katharine Childs who works for the Raspberry Pi Foundation leading the Code Club programme in the East Midlands. After a childhood encounter creating Usborne’s creepy computer games on a BBC Microcomputer, via a Computing degree beginning with Smalltalk and ending in Javascript, she now enjoys enabling the “wow” moments which happen every time a child realises they can create or control by writing their own code. She works extensively with schools, universities and businesses to join up thinking across sectors anddelivers high-quality computing experiences for primary schools children.
In this talk, Katharine will explore why we should teach children to code and how we can help them. We’ll be focussing on Lincoln and the rapid 40% growth of new clubs which have sprung up in the last six months, plus looking at further opportunities to inspire the next generation of coders, creators and digital makers.
Should be a great talk with opportunities to meet plenty of people who work in the digital sector locally as well as a look at the newly opened Boole Technology centre. I hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you there!
